  1. 1Identifica la estructura: las palabras dadas casi siempre la delatan (If…, Despite…, I wish…, It is said…).
¿Has mantenido toda la información?

#EstructuraEjemplo
1Activa → pasivaThey built it in 1900. → It was built in 1900.
2Pasiva impersonalPeople say he's rich. → He is said to be rich.
3Directo → reported speech"I'm tired." → She said she was tired.
4Reporting verbs"Let's go." → She suggested going.
5CondicionalesI didn't study, so I failed. → If I had studied, I wouldn't have failed.
6Wish / if onlyIt's a pity I can't come. → I wish I could come.
7RelativosI met a girl. Her father is a pilot. → I met a girl whose father is a pilot.
8Concesión: although, despiteAlthough it rained… → Despite the rain…
9Present perfect + for/sinceI started 3 years ago. → I have been …ing for 3 years.
10Used to / be used toI no longer smoke. → I used to smoke.
11Comparativos y superlativosNobody is taller than Ana. → Ana is the tallest.
12Too / enough / so…that / such…thatIt's too cold to swim. → It isn't warm enough to swim.

Relativos

Une dos frases con who (personas), which (cosas), whose (posesión), where (lugares) o when (tiempo). Si la información es esencial, no lleva comas y puedes usar that; si es una explicación extra, va entre comas y nunca lleva that.

That's the man. I told you about him. → That's the man who / that I told you about.Especificativa: puede llevar that.
My sister lives in Bilbao. She is a nurse. → My sister, who is a nurse, lives in Bilbao.Explicativa: entre comas, sin that.
This is the town. I was born there. → This is the town where I was born.Lugar.

Concesión: although, despite, in spite of, however

although / even thoughsujeto + verboAlthough he was tired, he kept working.
despite / in spite ofsustantivo o gerundioDespite being tired, he kept working.
despite the fact thatsujeto + verboDespite the fact that he was tired…
howevernueva frase, con comaHe was tired. However, he kept working.
Error que siempre se corrige

«Despite of» no existe. Es «despite» o «in spite of», nunca «despite of».

Present perfect, for y since

Pasar de un pasado simple con ago a un present perfect con for o since, o al revés. También aparece con «It's the first time» y «I haven't … for / since».

I last saw her two years ago. → I haven't seen her for two years.Negativa + for.
It's two years since I saw her. → I haven't seen her for two years.It's + tiempo + since.
I've never eaten sushi before. → It's the first time I have eaten sushi.First time + present perfect.

Used to, be used to, get used to

Used to + infinitivo: hábitos del pasado que ya no ocurren. Be used to + gerundio: estar acostumbrado. Get used to + gerundio: acostumbrarse.

I don't play the piano any more. → I used to play the piano.Hábito pasado.
Living in a big city isn't new for me. → I'm used to living in a big city.Estar acostumbrado.
Driving on the left was hard at first. → It took me time to get used to driving on the left.Acostumbrarse.

Comparativos, too, enough, so y such

Nobody in the class is as clever as Eva. → Eva is the cleverest in the class.Superlativo.
The film was more boring than I expected. → The film wasn't as interesting as I expected. Not as … as.
The coffee was too hot to drink. → The coffee wasn't cold enough to drink.Too → not … enough con el antónimo.
It was such a good film that we saw it twice. → The film was so good that we saw it twice.Such + a + adj. + sustantivo / so + adjetivo.

+

Sí. «I wouldn't have» y «I would not have» valen lo mismo. Lo que importa es la estructura.

¿Cuál es la transformación que más cae?

+
